August 2011
Over the past month, global markets have reacted with concern and volatility to perceptions of rising, global risk. Whether it is sovereign risk or concerns about global growth, markets have been fearful and unsettled. Foreign exchange markets have been affected no differently. However, investors are more aware of the currency components in their portfolios than possibly any time in the last 20 years. But are they prepared from a policy perspective?

Please remember that all investments carry some level of risk, including the potential loss of principal invested. They do not typically grow at an even rate of return and may experience negative growth. As with any type of portfolio structuring, attempting to reduce risk and increase return could, at certain times, unintentionally reduce returns.
